Statewide Tribal Coalition Endorses Thien Ho for Congress in California’s 6th District
SACRAMENTO, CA – The California Tribal Business Alliance (CTBA), a coalition of federally recognized California Indian tribes, today announced its endorsement of Thien Ho, Sacramento County District Attorney, for Congress in California’s 6th Congressional District.
Representing tribes across Northern, Central, and Southern California, CTBA works to advance policies that strengthen tribal sovereignty, economic development, and effective government-to-government partnerships.
“Thien Ho understands the responsibility that comes with public service and the importance of working respectfully with tribal governments,” said Robert Smith, Chairman of the Pala Band of Mission Indians and Chairman of CTBA. “He has shown real leadership on issues that matter, including Missing and Murdered Indigenous People, where stronger coordination and accountability are long overdue. Just as important, he recognizes the role tribes play as economic drivers and partners in communities across California. We are seeing strong support for his campaign from a broad cross-section of communities, and we are proud to add our voice to that growing coalition.”
Ho has been a leading voice on efforts to address Missing and Murdered Indigenous People (MMIP), working to elevate awareness and improve coordination across agencies serving Native communities.
“We understand how important it is to have leaders in Congress who respect tribal sovereignty and understand the role of tribal governments in the region,” said Chairman Jesus Tarango of Wilton Rancheria, the only federally recognized tribe in Sacramento County. “Thien Ho brings a practical understanding of public safety, economic development, and partnership that will serve this district well.”
“I am honored to have the support of the California Tribal Business Alliance,” said Thien Ho. “California tribes are essential partners in our state’s economy and in the fabric of our communities. In Congress, I will continue working to strengthen those partnerships, support tribal sovereignty, and advance public safety for all communities, including addressing the crisis of Missing and Murdered Indigenous People.”
California tribes are major contributors to the state’s economy, supporting jobs, infrastructure, and community investment throughout their regions. CTBA members meet regularly to coordinate policy strategies and share best practices in governance and economic development.
The California Tribal Business Alliance was formed in 2004 to address public policy issues of importance to its member tribes, including healthcare, education, water, energy, housing, agriculture, environmental stewardship, and business development.
